Tariff Update for USA Customers

Last updated: 2024-04-26

Dear CosplaySpa Customers:

You may be wondering – will my order from CosplaySpa be impacted by the recent tariff news? The short answer is yes – it’s unavoidable if the order is shipping from China to the USA for now.

We are following this situation closely as many of our costumes, props, and other products are manufactured in China and nearby countries.

As of April 26th, 2025, our shipping companies have begun charging us an additional 160% above the declared item value (145% tariff + 15% documentation processing charges) as we ship your order to the USA from China. Not all of our items ship from China, but because so many do it will have a significant impact on our business and unfortunately the amount is much too large for us to absorb.

The tariff change was implemented so fast that some of our already-shipped orders were called back and the fee was charged on those shipments to us. For these, we have covered the full tariff cost on our own.

Regrettably, for the time being, if your order is shipping to the USA from China, we must add a 160% tariff surcharge (calculated based on the order value before shipping costs or any other taxes are added) for all orders placed after April 26th, 2025 in order to survive.

We do hope very much that this is a temporary surcharge and alternative solutions can be found soon. We are also aggressively investigating all the options available to us and will keep you apprised of changes as we become aware of them.

Well wishes and godspeed 🙂

Your CosplaySpa team

Some Background on Tariffs and the USA:

There have always been tariffs on most goods shipping from China to the USA, but small businesses and buyers such as yourself have enjoyed an $800 ‘de minimus’ exclusion, meaning that any item lower than this value was excluded from any tariff charges. That is no longer the case, and now all parcels will go through a more stringent inspection no matter how low the value. It’s expected this will cause significant shipping delays as the American ports struggle to process the 92% of parcels that they could previously ignore.
